Hello once again

I’m starting to make these posts just a bit more often so soon I’ll be back to blogging everyday (wait was I ever?). You’ll notice the pretty custom header. Very 2004 yes but it’s appropriate for the work I’m doing right now. Although my job is a lot of work at the end of the day I like the feeling that I’m doing my part to help for the elections in 2006 & 2008. I’m definitely not saying I want to make a career out of politics but I want to do what I can. I really want to see change in this country. We’ve gone so far down hill since 2001 and I’m afraid to see what things will look like in the future if we don’t change the majority in the congress and senate NOW. I could really go off here but I’m not going to. I deal with it enough during the week and get my fair share of debates on a daily basis.

I’m halfway through The Devil Wears Prada and I hope to finish it by next weekend so I can check out the movie. I’m planning to see POTC this week one night after work and hopefully catch Superman in the next two weeks. I’m not sure what else is coming out this summer, so for right now those are my top 3 “must see” movies.

I had to leave work early on Friday because my back was aching so bad. Even with the holiday off it felt like a long week (I worked Monday) for me. The 4th was good. It it easy, took in two parties during the afternoon and then caught some fireworks with my mom and watched Syriana while consuming the wonderful Coconut Cake from Andronicos which I picked up on the way home from the last party. My mom had just gotten back from a drive with my stepfather to Oregon and I hadn’t seen her in a few days so I figured cake and George Clooney were a good way to spend the evening (stepfather stayed in Oregon to work). I have vision issues and couldn’t see the subtitles half of the time and quickly lost interest and fell asleep and by the end my mom had enough of it. I’ll try it again when it’s on HBO. Another movies I’ve caught on DVD the past two weeks: Eight Below (I cried the entire way though) and Failure to Launch (can’t stand SJP) both were decent although Eight Below didn’t have much of a plot.

I’m hearing some coyotes outside. It doesn’t sound like they’re too far off. Time to turn in.

Chick Flick Night

I had some paperwork to do so I rented two chick flicks out of the machine at Safeway to watch while I did it. The Perfect Man and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. So far I’m slighly disapointed with The Perfect Man. Not a real good plot and I’m not terribly impressed with the acting.

So I did end up getting my laptop upgraded. I found out I only have two 256mb cards and one is hidden under the keyboard and pretty much can’t be touched. The other was the one I kept seeing so I pulled that out and put a 512mb chip in. I wish I could have gotten the original cheaper one at Best Buy but it was just too late.

I felt girly today. I watched Oprah’s Favorite Things today. I never watch Oprah but I was curious to see what was on her list. She gave everything on her list to Katrina volunteers that were in the audience and a couple of their stories were shown. Some of the items she gave away included iPods, Blackberries, $100 tins of Popcorn, Burberry Coats and bags, Vaio laptops.. etc. The stuff probably totalled over $5,000. The Vaio alone was $1,600. I loved the Nike shoes she showed. They’re workout shoes which are made to be worn without socks and can be personalized. They’ll be going on my Christmas list.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Last minute yes but since I’m not dressing up and want to take my dog around the neighborhood since she loves kids. Any dog costume ideas? I really don’t want to spend $25+ on a cheesy unoriginal costume. All set for later with scary movies and a bowl of candy for whoever is brave enough to venture up our driveway.

Grabbed a little known movie called The Irrefutable Truth About Demons starring the hot Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings, Doom, The Bourne Surpremacy) and I still need to finish White Noise. I’m sure there’s some good movies on On Demand too. I’ll probably need to get some cleaning done too since there’s an appraiser coming again on Tuesday. And probably an exterminator soon since the nasty spiders are back and the first two sprays didn’t work.

The Corpse Bride

I’m a huge fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas and this movie looks like it’s going to be just as good. Anyone seen it yet in the limited release?

I really need to get myself to the movies. I think the last movie I saw in the theatre was Herbie Fully Loaded while I was babysitting. I guess it’s just more to look forward with my Blockbuster account. Money wise it makes more sense to wait but where’s the fun in that? I definitely haven’t missed annoying people talking through the movies not caring that the rest of us are paying over $9 to hear their conversation. I was about to wring a few necks last summer after two different groups of people decided to yell loudly at the screen every few minutes (and it was a romantic comedy).
